![]() ![]() This is such a raw book that shows the reality of abuse. In this book we see how huge an impact childhood trauma and one’s upbringing has on how one decides to live their life, we also see the lengths a mother goes through in order to protect her child, even to the extent of putting her own life in jeopardy. Furthermore, Iris also finds herself in an extremely abusive relationship, fighting not only for her own life but also for the life of those she loves most. Iris suffers major depression and I appreciate the sensitivity that Ryan shows when writing about this illness. Life keeps them apart, but the sparks felt when they first met tie them together forever. Iris and August meet at a bar the day prior to August’s first dance in the NBA. Many perceive the life of being a wife or girlfriend of a (basket)baller to be glamorous, but underneath the expensive purses and shoes lie scars, pain, cheating and violence. “Long Shot” follows the love story of Iris DuPree and August West in the life of the NBA. ![]() Ryan manages to accurately depict abuse in relationships as well as the highs and lows of life. ![]() I absolutely loved this book! Not only is it a romance book, but Ryan take the readers on a journey of love, life and emotion. ![]()
